Which hosting billing platforms have AI built in?

Blesta and HostBill ship AI that can answer tickets, WISECP sells an AI add-on for its beta version 5, and WHMCS ships AI domain ideas. Here is what each billing platform includes, what it costs and how replies are sent.

Blesta 6.0 and HostBill ship AI that answers support tickets. WISECP sells an AI add-on for its version 5, still in beta. WHMCS ships AI domain-name suggestions and has announced a ticket Copilot. We found no AI in Upmind or Clientexec, and none of these platforms describes a chatbot that answers clients from their own account.

If you are looking at WHMCS alternatives because of AI, this is what each platform's own pages say it does, read on 19 October 2026. These are vendor claims. We did not install or test any of them.

Blesta: ticket autopilot with a confidence score

Blesta 6.0, released on 4 August 2026, added Blesta AI. Its AI page says it drafts replies from the full ticket history, and that a second AI pass gives each draft a confidence score from 0 to 100. Only drafts above the threshold you set are sent on their own. A "Require human review" mode holds every draft for staff until you are ready. The AI can change priority, assign staff and close a ticket, and each of those can be switched off.

Two details matter. Blesta says cards, API keys, passwords and phone numbers "are masked before anything leaves your server". And the AI runs through Blesta's own gateway with "one API key from your account.blesta.com account", reaching models such as GPT-5.5, Claude, Gemini and Grok, so you do not bring your own provider key. Blesta's documentation marks AI in 6.0 as beta, and its chatbot sits in the admin area for staff.

HostBill: a set of AI apps

HostBill's AI tag page lists 14 apps, from provider connectors for OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, DeepSeek, Grok, OpenRouter and Perplexity to AI Translation, an AI ticket spam filter and AI domain suggestions. AI Prompter, version 1.2026-09-28, generates full or partial ticket replies, summarises long threads and translates "incoming tickets and outgoing responses". It costs $199 one-time, or $499 with source code, and is included in the All-Inclusive edition.

The AI Support Agent, part of AI Prompter, goes further: it "automatically generates and sends AI-powered responses to new tickets and subsequent customer replies". Its safeguards are excluded departments, randomised reply delays, a stop word that blocks a reply and can trigger an escalate tag and macro, and a tag staff can add to take a ticket out of the AI's hands. Who supplies the provider key is not stated on the pages we read.

WISECP: an add-on for a beta release

WISECP's AI Assistant reads "the conversation and the client record" before it drafts a ticket reply, and can answer directly under conditions you set. Its documentation lists the controls: departments, a reply limit per ticket, a reply delay, a maximum ticket age, and a choice between a reply the customer sees and a hidden one. You enter your own provider key. It costs $14.90 a month, $139.90 a year or $829.90 once, and needs WISECP 5.0, which its release page lists as beta (5.0-beta.3, 5 October 2026). The latest stable release is 3.1.9.8.2.

What does WHMCS have?

WHMCS 9.0 added AI domain-name suggestions, so a client buying a domain "can use a keyword or description" instead of an exact name. Its release highlights also carry the heading "Coming Soon: AI Support Copilot Addon Module", promising "AI-generated response suggestions" for staff, help removing personal data from replies, and a full release "coming in 2026". Price, AI provider and whether it can send replies are not published, and the WHMCS 9.1 beta highlights do not mention it. Blesta's own comparison table sums up WHMCS's AI today as "Domain search only". Our post on whether WHMCS has AI covers both features in detail.

Open-source billing: Paymenter and FOSSBilling

Neither ships AI of its own. Paymenter's marketplace lists three paid AI extensions: two Gemini support widgets at $4.99 and "AI assistant - Automate support" at $19.99, which describes itself as able to "auto reply tickets, check invoices and more". FOSSBilling's extension directory has one, the Asyntai AI Chatbot, whose README says "Tickets, invoices, orders, client records and payment details are never read" and that it "never writes to FOSSBilling".

Should you switch billing platform to get AI?

Probably not for AI alone. A billing platform holds your invoices, provisioning, gateways and years of client history, and the AI features above sit on top of that. Choose the platform for billing, then add the AI you need. On WHMCS, staff-side ticket AI comes from Marketplace modules, which our guide to AI ticket replies in WHMCS compares.

The gap no platform fills on its own pages is a chat for clients that reads their own account. Blesta's chatbot is for staff, HostBill and WISECP work on tickets, and FOSSBilling's chatbot reads published articles only. For WHMCS, that is what a WHMCS AI chatbot module such as MagizAI adds: answers from the signed-in client's services, domains and invoices, and changes only after the client taps Confirm. Its plans are on the pricing page, and modules from other vendors are set side by side in our AI chatbots for WHMCS comparison.
